Swapan-Shakhawat panel wins BD community elections in Italy
Swapan-Shakhawat panel won Bangladesh community elections in Padova, Italy. Polling was held throughout the day from 8 am on Saturday. After 13 long years, there was great excitement around the election. The Electoral Management Committee of Padova has set a precedent by organizing and successfully conducting such elections in the diaspora, which has won the praise of the diaspora.
The election commissioner announced the results at five in the morning at the end of day-long polling.
Bangladesh panel President Shafiqul Islam Swapan and General Secretary Shakhawat Hossain defeated the panel of Bangladesh Oikyazot panel president and secretary candidates by 487 votes.
The candidates of both the panels expressed their gratitude to the election management committee by respecting this result.
Bangladesh panel president Shafiqul Islam Swapan and general secretary Shakhawat Hossain who won the election thanked all the voters for their immediate response and expressed their gratitude to the election commissioners for the smooth completion of the election. Along with that, he expressed hope that a clean Padova with the defeated candidates will work together for the overall development of the diaspora.
It should be noted that 2183 votes were casted out of about 5000 voters in the election. Among them 1704 male votes and 479 female votes.
