Rabindra-Nazrul Birth Anniversary Celebrations in New York
Bengali New Year 1430 and the birth anniversaries of world poet Rabindranath Tagore and national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam were celebrated with great enthusiasm and enthusiasm at the Bangladesh Consulate General in New York.
Friday (June 23) New York local time marked the Bengali New Year and Rabindra-Najrul's birth anniversary.
Consul General Dr. Mohammad Monirul Islam in his greeting speech wished everyone a happy Bengali New Year and termed Pahela Baishakh as the festival of Bengali life. He said that since UNESCO recognized Pahela Boishakh Mars procession as 'Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity', it has become a global festival beyond the borders of the country.
In his speech, the Consul General mentioned poet Rabindranath Tagore and rebel poet Kazi Nazrul Islam as invaluable assets of Bangladesh and world literature. He said, their contribution to the development and development of Bengali language, literature and culture is memorable.
He expressed the opinion that the intrinsic significance of Pahela Baisakh and the thinking and philosophy of Rabindra-Najrul are very relevant and important in the present world reality in establishing world peace, equality and unity.
An interesting cultural program was staged on the occasion by performing patriotic songs, Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Giti, village-Bengali folk songs, recitations and dances. Renowned artistes including vocalist Rathindranath Roy, Shahid Hasan, Tajul Imam and Dinat Jahan Munni enthralled the audience.
