Fifth World Bangla Literary Conference in Canada

The North America Bangla Sahitya Parishad has organized the World Bangla Sahitya Assembly for the fifth time in Toronto, Canada.

Toronto-based translator-organizer-artist Farhana Azim Shiuli, the leader of the Toronto-based art and literature practice platform 'Pathshala', is the local organizer of this gathering, which will be held at the Japanese-Canadian Cultural Center in Toronto on September 2 and 3 (Saturday and Sunday).

Today, Bengalis have spread across the world beyond the geographical boundaries of Bangladesh and India. The North America Bangla Sahitya Parishad was formed five years ago in the United States with the aim of promoting exchange of views and friendship between non-resident Bengali writers and writers. One of the activities of this organization is Biswa Bangla Sahitya Samsalya held every year.

The first rally was held in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. The next two rallies were held online in 2020 and 2021, but the fourth rally returned to Lake Forest, Los Angeles, USA.

The gathering consists of literary readings, literary seminars, book and author introductions, exhibitions of authors' published books, literary chats and evening cultural events. At present, beyond North America, this council is also working with Bengali literature lovers in Europe, Africa, South America, Australia and Asia.

On the occasion of the fifth gathering in Toronto, a literary anthology of non-resident writers 'Hridbangla' will be published as usual. A four-color souvenir with advertisements will also be published at the same time. Participating writers will have an opportunity to display their published books at the venue. The organization has invited everyone to the Fifth World Bangla Literary Conference in Toronto.
