Expatriate cricket tournament begins in Portugal
The T-16 Cricket Tournament 2023 has been organized by Bangladesh Cricketers Association in Portugal, an expatriate sports organization in Portugal. A total of 12 teams will play in the group stage, 6 each in two groups.
The teams participating in the tournament are Martim Muniz Warriors, Friendship Cricket Club, Lisbon Sixers, Young Tigers Portugal, Legends of Portugal, Barreiro XI, Brothers Sporting Club, All Star Lisbon, Alameda Boys, Creek Rangers, NR Eleven Fighters and Shining Comilla.
The opening day saw one match each of Barreiro XI vs Legends of Portugal and Martim Muniz Warriors vs Friendship Cricket Club.
Bangladesh Embassy, Lisbon's Charge d'Affaires Alamgir Hossain and various people from the community and media workers were present in the event. Its inauguration was announced under the chairmanship of association convener Zakir Hossain and moderator Imtiaz Ahmed Rana.
The top four teams from the two groups will qualify for the quarterfinals. Later the tournament will conclude with semi finals and finals. Each game will be of 16 overs.
The guests wished the success of the tournament and thanked the organizers for encouraging sports in the youth community in the diaspora. Besides, the committee informed that its main goal is to help the expatriate Bangladeshi youth to build a beautiful life through sports and cultural activities.
