E-Passport launched at Bangladesh Embassy in Portugal
Bangladesh Embassy, Lisbon inaugurated the 'e-passport' program on Wednesday (July 12). Abdullah Al Masud Chowdhury, Secretary of Security and Services Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Alamgir Hossain, Charge d'Affaires of the Bangladesh Embassy inaugurated the e-passport program at the embassy.
Director General of Prime Minister's Office Mohammad Ahsan Kibria Siddiqui, Director of Immigration and Passport Directorate Abdullah Al Mamun, officials of e-passport and automatic border control and management project, leaders of Bangladesh community living in Portugal, media workers and embassy officials participated in the opening ceremony.
Abdullah Al Masud Chowdhury, Secretary of Security and Service Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs, spoke as the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the e-passport program organized at the embassy. Besides, the officials of Immigration and Passport Department and the leaders of Bangladeshi community living in Portugal addressed the event. Later, the Secretary of Security and Services Department handed over the enrollment slips of e-passport to some of the applicants.
Bangladesh Embassy Charge d'Affaires Alamgir Hossain thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the able leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Home Affairs for introducing the e-passport facility in Bangladesh Embassy, Lisbon. He said that the long-desired demand of the expatriate Bangladeshis has been fulfilled through the launch of e-passport service in Portugal, which will help the regularization of newly arrived Bangladeshis in Portugal.
To apply for an e-passport, the applicant has to fill a form online. Apart from this, the important matter related to the process of filling the application form will be informed very soon in the form of a notification on the Facebook page of the embassy.
