Diplomatic reception held at Bangladesh Consulate in New York
In continuation of the program organized on the occasion of Great Independence and National Day by Bangladesh Consulate General in New York, 'Diplomatic Reception' was organized in honor of foreign guests and diplomats on Monday.
Foreign Secretary Masood bin Momen was present as the chief guest on the occasion.
According to official information, Consul General of different countries, diplomats, representatives of New York City Mayor's Office, US Department of State Office, foreign guests, brave freedom fighters and dignitaries of Bangladesh community were present in the event.
In the chief guest's speech, the Foreign Secretary highlighted the supreme sacrifice of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the greatest Bengali father of the nation, martyred freedom fighter, three million martyrs and more than two hundred thousand oppressed mothers and sisters. He highlighted the incredible progress in almost all indicators of socio-economic development of Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and emphasized on building a Smart Bangladesh by 2041 announced by the Prime Minister.
Mentioning the involvement of Bangladeshis living in New York with the US mainstream, Masood bin Momen also appreciated their role in deepening and strengthening the friendly relations between the people of the two countries. He extended warm greetings and congratulations to the Bangladeshis living in the United States along with the guests present at the event on the occasion of the Great Independence and National Day.
Consul General Dr. In his welcome speech, Mohammad Monirul Islam paid deep respect to the memory of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the best Bengali father of the nation for a thousand years, in the development of an 'independent-sovereign state' called Bangladesh on the world map.
He said that Bangladesh is now being considered as a role model for development in the world. Bangladesh's role in poverty alleviation, women's empowerment, disaster management, combating the effects of climate change and establishing world peace is being appreciated in the world.
