Iftar of South Surama people in Michigan
Iftar and Dua Mahfil of South Surama residents living in Michigan, USA has been held. Local time Sunday (April 2) in a hall in Hamtramic City Sylhet Sadar organized the South Surma Association of Michigan.
More than three hundred people from different classes and professions of the Bangladeshi community participated in the Iftar. Besides, many people of Hindu and Christian religion participated. Which takes shape in a bond of harmony.
Some Maulanas read some verses of the Holy Quran and Durood Sharif before Iftar. Later, special prayers are offered for the happiness and prosperity of the people of the world. A short discussion meeting was held before the iftar under the chairmanship of Abdul Jabbar Bashir, the president of the organization and Khaled Ahmed Raheen, the acting secretary.
Congressman Shri Tinedhar, US Senator Representative Kevin Hart, Hamtramic City Mayor Amir Ghalib, Wayne County Commissioner Martha G. Scott, Councilman Muhit Mahmud, Naeem Chowdhury, City Manager Max Gabriano, Police Chief Ann Moisi, Director of Michigan Veteran Affairs Adam Hallier, Hamtramic City Fire Chief Matthews.
Besides, Nizam Ahmed, Liaquat Ahmed, Zafar Iqbal and Hasan Ahmed, the organizing secretary of the association and many others spoke.
Hamtramic City Councilman Naeem Chowdhury, son of Dakshin Surma Upazila, thanked everyone for participating in the Iftar.
