Celebrating Bengali New Years in Canada
Bengali barshvbran Utsav 1430 was held in Canada with festive and colorful arrangements. On this occasion, expatriate Bengalis celebrated in the Montgomery Community Association Auditorium in Calgary.
Even though the smile of the sun cannot be seen across the green fields of Bengal in the wilderness of the world, it is as if that color has spread in the joy of the expatriates. The hearts and minds of the expatriates were filled with joyful songs through the exchange of respect and love in the mela, folk thoughts, traditions and ceremonies of Bengal.
The Montgomery Community Association auditorium was packed to the brim with children, teenagers and men and women walking.
The organizers say that the main aim of the Bangla Varsvaran festival was to highlight the culture, history and national identity of modern Bengal to the new generation.
On this day, the fair had various interesting stalls including colorful bahari sarees, traditional pithapuli food of Bengal. Children's drawing competition, talent show by local artists, besides the main attraction was the Baisakhi Mangal procession with faces and masks in the hands of children and teenagers.
Apart from expatriate Bengalis, foreigners also attended the event. In an atmosphere of joy, the venue was filled with traditional Bengali chatter, music, poetry, dance and presentation from morning till midnight.
Rupak Dutta, the president of the organization 'Amra Sami', the organizer of the event, said that we have a beautiful culture. We want to present our history, tradition and culture to the new generation in which we grew up. We hope that the whole world will be happy on the first day of the year.
Prominent doctor of Calgary Dr. Dilip Nandi said, it is very good to see foreigners in our Bengali New Year festival. Hope the New Year will bring joy and eternal peace in everyone's life, this joy of Paila Boishakh will prevail among Bengalis throughout the year.
Calgary musician Baisakhi Guh said, We are missing the root Baisakh of Ramna in Bangladesh very much. Still, after two long years, it is great to be here with the family to join in the joy of Boishakh. Happy New Year everyone. May the whole world be blessed.
Calgary community figure Shubo Majumder said, "Let the world wake up anew by eliminating violence and hatred, this is our hope on the first day of the year."
