The future of `illegal` migrants in Portugal is uncertain
After the introduction of regularization in Portugal, many have sought asylum or studied in various European countries. But now the Portuguese Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF) is issuing notices of termination or show cause notices to those who have left Portugal illegally due to the EU's central data security system starting to verify applicant information.
It should be noted here that if an application for regularization in Portugal is made as a professional or worker, he must continue to work or do business here and at the same time he cannot leave the borders of Portugal until the application is settled. If there is an exception to this, his process will be void, as defined by law.
Hoping to become regular in Portugal and staying in other European countries for more income by starting the process here, but currently the Portuguese Foreigners and Border Service (SEF) is the three pillars of the European Union's visa and immigration information repository security system, the famous Visa Information System (VIS), Schengen Information System ( SIS), migrants have started to return to Portugal due to the implementation of the European Dactyloscopy (Eurodac).
However, their sudden return in droves has created a crisis in Portugal's housing and workplaces. That is, thousands of residents are entering Portugal at the same time, creating an artificial crisis, moreover, because they leave Portugal and live in other countries, it is difficult to get jobs or proper employment due to their lack of Portuguese language skills.
Speaking to several victims, the Portuguese immigration authorities or SAFE are turning them back because they do not work regularly in Portugal or because their fingerprints were detected in another country where they were staying, or ask for time to investigate the process. At the same time, the applicant was asked to show reasons. Due to this decision of the authorities, many expatriates have become uncertain about their regularity in Portugal.
It should be noted that Portugal is an immigrant-friendly country, the number of immigrants in the country is increasing every year. According to the authorities, more than 7 lakh 57 thousand immigrants are living in the country till 2022. Where the total population of the country is a little more than one crore.
