Bangladeshi woman councilor candidate in Ancona city elections
The Italian port city Ancona City Corporation elections will be held on May 14 and 15. Expatriate Bangladeshi Umme Salsabil Jahan Tasina is participating as a city councilor in this election for the first time in connection with a famous political party in Italy. Local expatriates expect that this Bangladeshi girl will increase the reputation of Bangladesh by winning.
Umma Salsabil Jahan Tasina, a Bangladeshi who grew up in diaspora, is fighting as a city councilor for the first time joining an Italian political party. Ever since the announcement of his candidature, there has been a lot of local electioneering among the expatriate Bangladeshis in Ankona.
It is known that Umma Salsabil Jahan Tasina is the elder daughter of Mohammad Dulal of Feni Sadar Upazila. At the age of 8 months, he moved with his mother to his father in Ancona, Italy. Tasinar, a talented student, grew up there. He also gained wide recognition in the city of Ancona through social activities.
His activities have been widely publicized by the Italian media for the past few years. In a very short time, using his father's acquaintance and his own acquaintance, he joined the Italian mainstream political party. He graduated from Polytechnic University in Italy, studying Biological Sciences. Also working as a local legal assistant, interpreter for expatriate Bangladeshis and with the Italian administration. He continues to conduct online language learning courses for the Italian language.
Due to his hard work for the party, he was nominated as the City Councilor of Ancona in the city corporation elections on May 14 and 15 from the Democratic (PD) alliance. This is the first time that a Bangladeshi has been nominated from the left party in the Ancona City Corporation election, so the election mood is blowing among the Bangladeshi voters. Election campaigns and meetings are going on.
Mayoral candidate Ida Simonella, council candidate Carlo Pesarici, national CGIL European and International Migration Policy Officer Sally Canny attended an election meeting last Sunday.
Bangladesh association president Mohammad Dulal, prominent businessman Feroz Bepari, Sheikh Aktaruzzaman, Habib Rana Wasim, Morjina Akhter, Akram Sayeed, MK Rahman Liton and Roni Khan were present in the meeting supporting Tasina under the direction of Mahbubur Rahman Maruf.
About five thousand Bangladeshis live in Ancona city. Among them, the number of Bangladeshi voters is more than two hundred. Apart from Bangladeshis, expatriates from different countries including Italian African, Moroccan, Indian, Sri Lankan and Chinese voters are working to win Tasina in the election.
Voters are expecting Tasina to play a role in solving various problems of Bangladeshis along with the overall development of Ancona City Corporation by winning the election.
