1. While buying, check the watermelon for large yellow spots. This means the watermelon is ripe and juicy. Due to long stay on the ground, this kind of yellow spot occurs on the watermelon. This means that after ripening, the watermelons have been collected from the land.
2. Try holding a watermelon. Don't buy it if it seems relatively light or hollow. Juicy watermelon will be heavy. 
3. Ripe watermelons are usually dark and black in color.
