Grameenphone will hold a courtyard meeting with women

In the next two years, Grameenphone will work to play a role in empowering women in 2,000 unions. In keeping with the spirit of International Women's Day, Grameenphone has undertaken a long-term initiative under the digital theme 'Internet for All'. It aims to use innovation and technology for gender equality.

Yard meetings will be organized across the country as part of this two-year initiative. Through which awareness will be created among women who do not have the opportunity to use technology or have limited opportunities. They will be empowered by playing a role in increasing their digital signature.

2000 union women from rural and marginal areas will be invited to attend this special courtyard meeting. Where they will be made aware of how the internet can help them improve their lives and unlock their potential.

The sessions will present real-life examples to help women break taboos and misconceptions about technology use.

It will also showcase the possibilities and needs of women's digital inclusion through their connections with inspiring women.

Grameenphone workers and inspiring women from the respective areas will express their views in the courtyard meeting. Discuss how to educate and create awareness among participants about safe Internet usage, so that participants can harness the power of the Internet to achieve success in their personal and work lives. Both online and offline modules will be used with additional focus on online safety. The first round of yard meetings will begin on March 9 and continue in phases until the target is reached.

Like Dina Mr who is freelancing from the remote area of Madhupur, or Foara Ferdous who has established her own f-commerce business at home or Dr. Tasneem Zara who fights against medical misinformation online every day. But there are also many women who, by telling these stories, can be inspired to unlock the possibilities that are within their grasp.

He also said that to realize the dream of Smart Bangladesh, we have to ensure equal participation of women in this journey. With a commitment to take digital signature to 2000 unions, we not only want to educate women across the country about internet usage but also give our inspiring women a platform where they can share their stories to inspire and empower marginalized women.

According to the GSM report, Bangladesh experienced an increase in gender inequality for the first time – 48 percent in 2021. Grameenphone started its journey with the goal of eliminating digital inequality and empowering marginalized women.
