YouTube`s experimental feature eases song search struggles

Struggling to recall the name of a catchy tune or song? We have all been there. The melodies linger, but the names escape us, leaving us frustrated. And let's not even mention those moments when lyrics elude our memory, making the search for a song feel like a musical puzzle.

YouTube has introduced an experimental feature for Android users aimed at simplifying song searches. Users can now hum, sing, or briefly record a song on the platform. It identifies the tune and presents related YouTube videos, catering to those who struggle with remembering song names or dealing with unclear lyrics.

This new search-by-song capability is accessible to a limited group of Android users though. If successful, it could become a valuable tool for anyone who uses YouTube to discover music.

YouTube's parent company, Google, introduced a similar feature in the past, but YouTube's version focuses on shorter humming sessions for only three seconds.

Although alternatives like SoundHound and MusixMatch exist with similar features, YouTube's experiment offers a straightforward way to alleviate the frustration of unidentified melodies without switching to another app.
