One year old WhatsApp messages will be deleted
Instant messaging platform WhatsApp introduced the 'disappearing messages' feature two years ago. This allows users to delete specific messages after a specified period of time.
Recently Webteinfo reported that WhatsApp is bringing a new update for this disappearing message. According to the report, the platform is bringing 15 options in this feature. Earlier it had three options.
Basically, if WhatsApp's disappearing message feature is enabled, the marked messages will be automatically deleted after a certain period of time. The main objective of launching this feature is to ensure that the messages sent by the users are not permanently stored on the server or the recipient's device.
The new update allows users to set a total of 15 different duration times for their sent messages to automatically 'disappear'. This list includes 1 year, 180 days, 60 days, 30 days, 21 days, 14 days, 6 days, 5 days, 4 days, 3 days, 2 days, 12 hours, 6 hours, 3 hours and 1 hour options. These new options will be available in the 'More Options' section in the drop-down menu bar.
Incidentally, these new options for disappearing messages were seen in the Windows desktop beta client version of WhatsApp. However, the report did not confirm whether this upgradation will also be available in the iOS and Android beta versions of WhatsApp.
