Here are the winners of the 2023 Pulitzer Prizes
The prestigious Pulitzer Prize is awarded annually to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to journalism, literature, music, and drama in the United States.
This year's winners were announced on Monday (May 8). This year's award winners include notables from the Associated Press (AP), The New York Times, writers Barbara Kingslover and Hernan Diaz.
AP won two awards for journalism in the public service and breaking news photography categories. The news agency received the most prestigious award mainly for its coverage of the Russia-Ukraine war. Including a report on the Ukrainian city of Mariupol. Last year, Russian troops occupied Mariupol, Ukraine, causing widespread destruction.
On the other hand, the New York Times won an international reporting award for its report on the massacre by Russian forces in Bucha, Ukraine.
Another journalist, Carolyn Kitchener of the Washington Post, won the Pulitzer for her 'steady reporting'. She reported on the problems faced by women after the new abortion ban in the United States. His report includes the story of a young woman from Texas. who gave birth to twins after a failed abortion.
The Los Angeles Times won the prize for exposing secret anti-apartheid speeches by a government official. Also, Los Angeles Times' Christina House won the award in the photography category for her photo of a pregnant woman living on the streets.
On the other hand, in the autobiographical category of literature, Braverly Gage's 'G-Man' won the award. In the general non-fiction category, the book 'George Floyd: One Man's Life and Struggle for Racial Justice' was won by Robert Samuels and Tolius Oloronipa.
Sanaj Tosi's 'English' won the drama category and Quoi Freedom's 'Dominion: A Saga of White Resistant to Federal Power' won the history category.
In the fiction category, Barbara Kingslover won for 'Demon Copperhead' and Hernan Diaz won for 'Trust'.
