Fasting in Saudi Arabia begins on Thursday
The holy Ramadan moon was not seen in the sky of Saudi Arabia on Tuesday. Tomorrow 22 March will complete 30 days of the month of Shaban. In other words, the month of Ramadan will start in Saudi Arabia from next Thursday.
This information was informed in a report of the English daily Khaleej Times of the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday. It is said that the Saudi Arabia Moon Sighting Committee said that the moon of the month of Ramadan was not seen anywhere in the country on Tuesday evening.
Middle Eastern countries such as Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Egypt, Malaysia, United Kingdom, United States, Australia and Singapore will also start fasting from Thursday.
Generally, the moon is seen in the sky of Bangladesh one day after Middle Eastern countries including Saudi Arabia. As a result, fasting and Eid are celebrated in Bangladesh the day after Middle Eastern countries.
Khaleej Times reports that Saudi Arabia's moon sighting committee met on Tuesday to see the moon with the naked eye. As the moon was not sighted, the moon sighting committee announced the start of fasting from Thursday.
In the Islamic calendar, months are usually 29 or 30 days long, and the beginning and end of the month depends on the sighting of the moon. That is why the month of Ramadan cannot be specified in advance.
Local media in Saudi Arabia say the country's moon sighting committee will meet again on Wednesday evening to confirm the sighting of the moon. Earlier, the Supreme Court had urged Muslims to inform any local court in the country if the moon of the holy month of Ramadan is sighted anywhere in Saudi Arabia.
One of the pillars of Islam is the holy month of Ramadan. Every year this holy month is observed with great religious solemnity in the Muslim world. After a month of abstinence, Muslims celebrate the holy Eid-ul-Fitr by seeing the moon in the month of Shawwal.
