Pope Francis hospitalized with respiratory problems

Pope Francis has been admitted to hospital with a respiratory infection and breathing problems. Vatican City said in a statement on Wednesday (March 29) that the pope will need to spend "several days" in hospital for treatment.

The statement also said that Pope Francis had been talking about breathing problems for some time. Then he was tested for Corona. But his corona was not detected in the test.

Francis was suddenly rushed to the hospital on Wednesday. As a result, many people became worried. Later, the statement said, he will have to be admitted to the hospital for treatment. Although initially reported by Vatican City, Pope Francis went to the hospital for a routine check-up. But the Italian press questioned this. Because Francis was scheduled to appear in a TV interview on Wednesday. But the event was canceled at the last moment.

Earlier on Wednesday morning, the Pope attended the weekly Mass at the Vatican. At that time he was seen healthy.

Pope Francis, however, already had breathing problems. At the age of 20, a part of his lung had to be removed. At that time, he was taking initiation in his country Argentina to become a priest. Due to the operation on the lungs, he soon developed a respiratory disease.

But Francis fell ill at a time when he should have been busy on Easter Sunday. However, there are doubts whether he will be able to join the Easter Sunday activities.

Pope Francis has been the pontiff of Vatican City since 2013. He said that he will not step down from this responsibility unless his health deteriorates too much.
