Italy Prime Minister Berlusconi has cancer
Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, who has been suffering from blood cancer for a long time, has been hospitalized. He was taken to the intensive care unit of a hospital in Milan after developing a new lung infection. The personal doctor of the former Prime Minister of Italy gave this information on Thursday.
The 86-year-old Italian media mogul was admitted to the intensive care unit of Milan's San Raffaele Hospital on Wednesday due to deteriorating health. Berlusconi, a four-time prime minister of Italy, still leads his party. He is an elected senator of the country's parliament.
In the first statement by doctors on his condition, doctors Alberto Zangrillo and Fabio Cesari said Berlusconi had been suffering from myelomonocytic leukemia for a long time.
The doctors did not give any specific information about when the cancer was first diagnosed in his body. However, Berlusconi's cancer is not very serious, they said.
Doctors said, 'Silvio Berlusconi is currently in intensive care for treatment of a lung infection. His infection is related to cancer.
Berlusconi's two children, daughter Marina and son Luigi, visited him at the hospital on Thursday. They did not speak to reporters waiting outside the hospital. The former Prime Minister's younger brother Paulo also visited him at the hospital. Later in the afternoon he left the hospital with Luigi.
Silvio Berlusconi's Forza Italia party is a partner in the country's ruling Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's right-wing coalition. Although this former prime minister has no role in the current government.
