In London every 6 minutes a mobile stolen!
An average of 248 mobile phones are stolen every day in London, the capital of Britain. Such information has been found in a recently published statistic.
It also revealed that London's Metropolitan Police is only able to recover two percent of mobiles. As a result, the cases of mobile theft are increasing day by day.
The statistics show that more than 91,000 mobile phones are stolen every year in London alone. That is, every 6 minutes a mobile phone is lost in the city. However, there are many people who do not go to the police even if their mobile phone is stolen. As a result, the actual number of mobile thefts may be higher.
Although 91,000 mobile phones are stolen every year, the London police recover only 1,915 mobile phones on average.
According to the London Metropolitan Police, daily operations are being conducted to tackle this problem but it is very difficult to stop.
British police watchdog HMCIFRS said the daily theft of mobile phones was unacceptable.
These events are affecting the general public's view of the effectiveness of the London Police.
HMCIFRS Chief Inspector Andy Cook said mobile theft was no small crime. Here is determined whether people feel safe in a society. A concerted effort is needed to tackle this.
In 2022, the British cities other than London that saw the most mobile phone thefts were Westminster (25,899), Camden (7,892) and Southwark (5,690).
