24-hour ceasefire announced in Sudan
Sudan's military and paramilitary forces are fighting for power. There is unrest throughout the country due to the power struggle. Amid this ongoing conflict, the two forces have agreed to a ceasefire.
The news of a cease-fire was received amid bloody clashes in the country for 4 consecutive days. Both armies declared a 24-hour ceasefire. Until the ceasefire, 185 people were killed in the conflict and about 2,000 were injured.
Some doctors claim that the number of casualties is much higher than the official estimate. Common people are afraid to step out of the house in fear. Meanwhile, the RSF and the Army agreed to a 24-hour ceasefire on Tuesday.
Lt. "The army will respect the ceasefire," said a senior official of General Shams el-Din Abbasi's military command. CNN Arabic quoted army chief Abdel Fattah Burhan as saying, "The army will be part of a one-day ceasefire."
Earlier in the day, the RSF said they would be part of a 24-hour humanitarian ceasefire. However, military officials have not publicly announced an immediate ceasefire.
Earlier on Monday, a convoy of the US embassy in Khartoum and the European Union ambassador's building were attacked. According to initial reports, RSF forces carried out the attack. This information is available from the statement of the US Department of State. However, all the members are said to be safe.
Dagalo said in a series of tweets on Tuesday that he had agreed to a 24-hour ceasefire after speaking with Blinken. According to local residents, army tanks and armored vehicles entered Khartoum early on Tuesday and headed towards the army headquarters and the presidential palace.
