When is Eid ul Adha 2023?

According to astronomical estimates, June 19 will herald the start of the month of Zilhaj in many parts of the world, making it the most likely date for Eid-ul-Azha. It is therefore projected that the day of Arafah will take place on Tuesday, June 27, and the first day of Eid-ul-Azha will take place on Wednesday, June 28.

The timing of Eid-ul-Azha celebrations still varies by country, including Bangladesh, and is still dependent on moon sightings. These countries rely on their respective committees or organizations for moon sightings. Along with Bangladesh, the majority of the Muslim-majority nations in Africa, Iran, Oman, Morocco, Turkey, and Malaysia all engage in this practice.

Nonetheless, astronomers have expressed that observing the moon of the Zilhaj month on June 18 will pose a challenge. Particularly in the central and western regions of the Islamic world, it will be difficult to spot the moon even with the aid of the naked eye or a telescope.
