A case of stone pelting on metro rail

A case has been registered in the case of throwing stones at the windows of Metrorail, Bangladesh's first electric high-speed public transport. The case was filed by the metro rail authority as the plaintiff in Kafrul police station of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

Officer-in-charge (OC) Hafizur Rahman of Kafrul police station confirmed this information on Monday (May 1) night.

He said, a case has been registered tonight in the incident of stone pelting at the metro rail window. The case has been filed under the Metrorail Act-2015. Several unidentified persons have been accused in the case.

When asked whether those involved in the incident have been identified or not, he said that no one has been identified so far. However, we have multiple teams working to trace those involved.

When asked about the incident, DMTCL Manager (Civil and P-Way) Mahfuzur Rahman said that between 10:30 am and 11:00 am yesterday (April 30), stone pelting occurred at the entrance of the train from Agargaon to Uttara Uttar station at Kazipara station. A window glass was damaged.

The incident took place at the south end of Kazipara metro station. As the train is about to enter the station, the window glass breaks with a loud noise. The train was on the westbound track. Rocks come from the east. As a result, a glass on the east side of the train was damaged.

Mahfuzur Rahman said, 'We tried to find the exact location yesterday. Police officials are looking into the matter. They are also trying to find out how the incident happened.

It is being criticized on social media. One named Kahinur Sultana wrote, 'I don't understand what was achieved by throwing stones, who benefited? Now the Metrorail belongs to the people of Bengal. People should protect it. Without doing that, who is happy in the game of destruction!!! Very bad job.

In that incident, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Kafrul police station, Hafizur Rahman, said earlier that a stone was thrown at a window of the metro rail while going from Agargaon station to Sheorapara via Kazipara to Uttara. The incident took place in Kazipara border area. We received a complaint about this yesterday. The complaint is being prepared to be filed in the form of a case today. We are talking to senior officials under which law the case can be filed.

When asked whether anyone has been arrested so far, he said, no one has been arrested yet. But several of our teams are working hard. We are seriously investigating from where the stone was hurled and who is involved. As soon as the accused are identified, they will be brought to justice.
