Prime Minister inaugurated 50 more model mosques

In the third phase, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated 50 more model mosques and Islamic cultural centers across the country. He inaugurated these newly constructed model mosques through video conference from Ganabhaban on Thursday (March 16).

After the inauguration, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina interacted with Imams, local public representatives and worshipers in Agailjhara of Barisal, Phulbaria of Mymensingh, Tentuliar of Panchagarh model mosques through video conference from Ganobhaban.

The Awami League government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is constructing a total of 564 model mosques and Islamic cultural centers in each district and upazila of the country with its own funding.

As part of this project, the Prime Minister inaugurated 50 model mosques in the first phase on June 10, 2021 and 50 model mosques in the second phase on January 16 this year. Sheikh Hasina has inaugurated a total of 150 model mosques in three phases so far. The construction work of the rest of the mosques is also nearing completion.

Construction of 564 model mosques and Islamic cultural centers with government funding is 9 thousand 435 crores. Not only prayer, these mosques will be centers for research, Islamic culture and knowledge.

These spacious model mosques and Islamic cultural complexes with modern facilities include separate ablution and prayer facilities for women and men, library, research center, Islamic book sales center, Holy Quran Hefz department, children's education, guest house, accommodation for foreign tourists, mortuary facilities. , there will be registration and training of pilgrims, training of imams, autism center, mass education center, Islamic culture center. Apart from this, office arrangements and car parking facilities have been kept for the officials and employees in the cultural center along with the accommodation of Imam-Muezzin.

In addition to religious invitation activities and Islamic cultural practices, awareness activities will be conducted to prevent various social ills including drugs, terrorism, dowry, violence against women in the model mosques.

4 lakh 94 thousand 200 men and 31 thousand 400 women can pray together in 560 model mosques across the country.

Under the library facility, 34 thousand readers can read Quran and Islamic books together every day. 6 thousand 800 people will have the opportunity to study Islamic subjects. 56,000 worshipers can always pray, recite tasbih along with prayer.

14 thousand Hafez will be made every year from the mosques. There will also be basic education system for 1 lakh 68 thousand children every year including various Islamic subjects. Accommodation system for 2 thousand 240 domestic and foreign guests will also be developed under the project. The centers will have digital registration system for performing the Holy Hajj.

Three categories of mosques are being built on 40 percent of the land. 4 storey model mosques and Islamic culture centers are being constructed at the district level, 3 storeys for upazilas and 4 storeys in coastal areas. Mosques in coastal areas will have empty ground floors as shelters.
