Metro rail`s test run from Agargaon to Motijheel begins tomorrow
The Agargaon to Motijheel route of the metro rail is commencing on a trial basis frpm Friday (July 7). Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader will inaugurate the trial run at Agargaon Metro Station on Friday at 4 pm.
Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) officially confirmed the news on Thursday. Notably, a metro train had already been operated from Agargaon to Motijheel on Wednesday midnight, although it was not part of the trial run. When asked about this, DMTCL Managing Director M A N Siddique explained that it was merely a preliminary run to ensure everything was functioning smoothly.
Earlier on December 28, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Uttara to Agargaon section of Metro Rail Line-6.
Currently, passenger services are available at nine metro stations. The ongoing work on the Agargaon-Motijheel section aims to enable passenger transport by October, marking the second phase of the project. The government's target is to complete the remaining part of the route, extending to Kamalapur, by 2025.Metro rail's test run from Agargaon to Motijheel will commence on Friday.
