Don’t be afraid, we’re bigger than BNP : Quader

Addressing the grassroots leaders at the ongoing special extended meeting of Awami League, the party's General Secretary Obaidul Quader said, "Don't be afraid. There is no reason to fear. We are still bigger in number than them [BNP]."

"In the latest opinion poll of Bangladesh, [it was seen that] 70 percent of people still support Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina, [and are] waiting to vote for her in the next election," Quader said during the meeting, which allowed journalists to be present.

"Take an oath, get ready; we won't give our flag to Pakistan's friends. Sheikh Hasina is someone we can trust. There is Sheikh Hasina, so don't be afraid. Under her direction, we will advance and triumph in the upcoming election as well. No matter what, we will defeat all conspiracies and arrive at the port of victory," Quader said.

"It must be admitted that there are some hardships, sorrows, rising commodity prices, and inflation. But since these crises and sufferings were brought about by powerful nations, we are being punished. As a result of having a leader like Sheikh Hasina, we are managing this situation. Bangladesh has begun to improve. This difficult period will end. Bangladesh will once again stand tall under Sheikh Hasina's leadership.

"No matter how many obstacles or conspiracies arise, Sheikh Hasina, the daughter of Bangabandhu, has no fear other than Allah," Quader said, adding that she won't bow down to anyone.

The special extended meeting began at 10:35am today at the Gono Bhaban. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, president of AL, is holding the meeting with the party's grassroots leaders ahead of the next national elections. Around 5,000 party leaders and elected public representatives from the AL took part in the meeting.
