Bangladesh reports 20 more dengue deaths in a day
20 more people have died of dengue in the last 24 hours in the country, increasing the death toll by the Aedes-borne mosquito disease to 691. Besides, 2,689 dengue patients have been hospitalized during the period, bringing the overall caseload by the disease to 140,711.
This was informed in a press release sent from the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday (September 7).
DGHS press release states that at present, a total of 9,711 dengue patients are under treatment in various public and private hospitals in the country. There are currently 4,151 dengue patients admitted to Dhaka’s public and private hospitals and 5,560 dengue patients in other hospitals outside Dhaka.
This year, 140,711 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals and received treatment. Among them, 64,172 people have received treatment in Dhaka and 76,539 people outside Dhaka.
Among the affected, 130,309 dengue patients have recovered from hospitals and returned home. Out of this, 59,524 patients recovered in Dhaka and 70,785 patients recovered outside Dhaka and returned home.
