EVM will not be used in the next national elections
The Election Commission (EC) has decided that there will be no Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) in the 12th National Assembly elections. In this case, voting will be held in 300 seats on ballot papers.
This decision was taken at the 17th meeting of the Election Commission in the conference room of the election building of Agargaon in the capital on Monday.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal presided over the meeting. EC Secretary and senior officials along with four other commissioners were present in the meeting. After the meeting EC Secretary Md. Jahangir Alam gave details in the press conference.
Jahangir Alam said, due to lack of political consensus and lack of necessary funds, the commission decided to vote on ballot papers in all 300 seats.
