Dubai in the United Arab Emirates and Santiago in Chile are third and fourth on the list with AQI scores of 163 and 56 respectively.
Air quality is considered 'unhealthy' if the AQI score is between 101 and 200. Scores between 201 and 300 are considered 'very unhealthy' and air quality between 301 and 400 is considered 'hazardous', posing serious human health risks.
According to the UNB report, the AQI in Bangladesh is determined based on 5 parameters of pollution, namely – Particulate Matter (PM10 and PM2.5), NO2, CO, SO2 and Ozone (O3).
Dhaka has been suffering from air pollution for a long time. Air quality in the city generally becomes unhealthy during winters and conditions improve slightly during monsoons.
