Prime Minister`s call to find new markets
In the context of the Ukraine war, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina directed all concerned to ensure sustainable export growth and find a way to explore new global markets for Bangladeshi products.
The prime minister said in the 11th meeting on exports at his official residence, Ganabhaban, that measures should be taken to achieve sustainable export growth by analyzing the situation arising out of the global economic recession due to the war in Ukraine.
The Prime Minister directed all concerned to seek new markets besides diversifying export products and reviving the local market.
He said that the increased demand for products due to the war in Ukraine has created a new opportunity globally to explore new markets for Bangladeshi products. We need to capture that market.
He asked for a new export policy for another four or five years by revising, modifying and improving the current export policy which expires in 2024.
He said that the new export policy should be adopted after analyzing the ongoing global economic recession, sanctions, war counter-sanctions and the challenges and opportunities that might arise in Bangladesh after transitioning from LDC by 2026.
Sheikh Hasina said long-term planning is necessary to increase exports because without it nothing can be achieved.
