159 upazilas including 7 districts have been declared landless!
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has declared a total of 159 upazilas including all upazilas of 7 districts of the country landless and homeless free. He announced this through a virtual program from Ganobhaban on Wednesday (March 22) morning.
The government is providing houses with two hundred plots of land to the homeless under the Asharyan-II scheme across the country. Under the project, 63 thousand 999 houses were handed over in the first phase on January 23, 2021, 53 thousand 330 in the second phase on June 20 of the same year, 32 thousand 904 in the first phase of the third phase on April 26 last year, and 26 thousand 229 houses in the second phase on July 21.
The number of houses handed over in the first, second, third and fourth stages is two lakh 15 thousand 827. The number of remaining houses in the fourth phase is 22 thousand six. The number of houses allocated up to the fourth phase is two lakh 37 thousand 831. In the fourth phase, the number of special design houses allocated in Char area is 1 thousand 373 and 634 special design Machang houses in hilly areas.
The Prime Minister said, the initiative we have taken will not leave a single person homeless in Bangladesh. Especially the birth centenary of the father of the nation was celebrated in 2020, then we decided to give houses to the homeless people of this country. In Bangabandhu's Bangladesh, no people will remain without an address.
Chief Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office Tofazzal Hossain Mia and other high-ranking officials were also involved in the ceremony at the Ganobhaban end.
