Repeal of the Digital Security Act
It has been decided to repeal the much discussed Digital Security Act-2018. It will now be replaced by the name 'Cyber Security Act-2023', said Law Minister Anisul Haque.
This decision was taken in the Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday morning.
Earlier, Law Minister Anisul Haque said last Wednesday that the Digital Security Act-2018 will not be repealed or changed. But the process to amend the law to prevent misuse is underway, which will be completed by next September.
The people concerned have been demanding the cancellation of the Digital Security Act for a long time to ensure the protection of the freedom of the media, the right to freedom of thought and expression, and above all to ensure the protection of the fundamental rights of people.
