5 years insurance contract for expatriates
Expatriate Welfare Minister Imran Ahmed said that the government has introduced compulsory insurance to benefit expatriate workers economically. Insurance benefit increased from Tk 2 lakh to Tk 10 lakh and tenure increased from 2 years to 5 years. The benefits of this insurance will be increased day by day.
He said these things at the signing ceremony of Wage Earners Welfare Board's five-year expatriate worker insurance contract with Jeevan Bima Corporation at Pravasi Kalyan Bhavan's Vijay 71 auditorium on Sunday afternoon (March 12). Meanwhile, the president of the standing committee related to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Benazir Ahmed MP, senior secretary of the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment. Ahmed Muniruch Salehin and Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority Chairman Mohammad Zainul Bari and many others were present.
Benazir Ahmed, president of the Standing Committee of the Ministry of Home Affairs, said in the event that the financial security of expatriate workers will be created under insurance. He also thinks that it would be better if all the workers who are currently staying abroad can come under this insurance.
Senior Secretary Dr. Ahmed Muniruch Salehin said, our first priority is to ensure that expatriate workers can do their work abroad without risk. At the same time expatriate insurance has been introduced considering their risk. He also said that the initiative to introduce insurance for expatriate workers has been appreciated all over the world. He urged all stakeholders including Baira to ensure the welfare of expatriate workers and their families through new initiatives.
Under the chairmanship of Wage Earners Welfare Board Director General Md Hamidur Rahman, Manpower Employment and Training Bureau Director General Md Shahidul Alam and Jiban Bima Corporation Managing Director Md Mizanul Haque Chowdhury also spoke at the event.
