The 3 reasons for the delay in extinguishing the fire

Director General of Fire Service and Civil Defense Brigadier General Md. Mine Uddin He said that there was delay in controlling the fire due to shortage of water, eager crowd and wind.

He said this at a briefing at the fire service headquarters in Bangabazar at around 1:20 pm on Tuesday (April 4).

Brigadier General Md. Main Uddin said, the fire was brought under control at 12:36 with the efforts of 48 units of the fire service. Besides, many forces and organizations including Army, Navy, Air Force, BGB, Police, RAB and WASA have worked with us.

Showing a video recorded on his mobile phone, the DG of the fire service said that the crowd of eager people here had to rush to put out the fire. It was so overcrowded that there wasn't even a place where our members could go and work. The second problem was lack of water, and the third problem was wind. Fire from one place moves to another due to wind.

He said that eight members of the fire service were injured in the fire today. Two of them are undergoing treatment at Sheikh Hasina National Burn Institute in critical condition.

When asked about the attack on the headquarters of the fire service. Main Uddin said that the fire market and the fire service office are on either side of the road. I want to say as DG of fire service, why we were attacked? Who did it? The incident will be investigated and further action will be taken.

He said that fire service and civil defense officers and all ranks of officers and employees give their lives for people. Referring to the martyrdom of 13 fire fighters in the last one year, the DG of Fire Service said that the 13 deceased fire fighters have received the title of Agnivir. Besides, 29 people were injured. Eight of our members were injured today. I don't understand why or who attacked the fire service.

Brigadier General Main Uddin said, "Fire service stands by the people first in all disasters. Why attack our members?" Why hurt? We will conduct a proper investigation of this fire and inform you.'' added the Director General of Fire Service.

Earlier, the fire service received information about the fire at 6:10 in the morning. Fire Service Control Room Duty Officer Rafi Al Farooq confirmed the fire to Jago News.
