Awami League trusts people: Foreign Minister

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said, Awami League is not afraid. The people of this country understand and know everything. They don't make mistakes. Awami League trusts the people.

The foreign minister said these things while participating in the Boishakh procession organized by the Sylhet district administration on Friday morning.

Abdul Momen said, the expectation of the new year is that tolerance, harmony and respect should be awakened among all. The country will be a developed Bangladesh with an independent non-communal economy with a combination of religion and caste groups.

To a question about the elections, the foreign minister said that the elections are still nine months away, there is no rush for the elections. The government is serious about conducting fair and participatory elections. But not only if the government wants it. The Election Commission has a big responsibility. A strong election commission has been formed for this. All responsibility is theirs. But political parties, supporters and voters have to fulfill the most responsibility. If everyone is sincere, free and fair elections will be held.

He said that the government has made all arrangements for acceptable elections. Earlier during BNP there were 1 crore 23 lakh fake voters. Photo ID biometric system has now been taken to prevent this fake vote. Earlier there were complaints about stuffing the ballot box, now transparent ballot box has been brought.

The foreign minister also said that people will elect Awami League again because of the incredible success and development achieved by Awami League in 14 years.
