People should be economical in electricity use: Prime Minister
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that it is not possible to give subsidy on electricity for a long time. So everyone should be economical in using electricity.
Addressing the scholars, the Prime Minister said, you will pray in the mosque, then use electricity. Switch off the electrical switches while leaving the mosque. It is not only in the case of the mosque, but also in your home you will be economical in using electricity, it will also reduce your bills and save electricity.
He said these things at the opening ceremony of the Islamic Cultural Center and Model Mosque, connected virtually from Ganobhaban on Monday morning. State Minister of Religion presided over the opening ceremony. Faridul Haque Khan. Prime Minister's Principal Secretary Tofazzal Hossain Mia presided over the program at Ganabhaban.
Sheikh Hasina said, we are providing electricity at half the price of the electricity we produce. A huge amount of subsidy has to be paid, it is not possible to give that subsidy for a long time. Everyone should keep those words in mind. Do not waste electricity, water, gas in any way. Islam is not about waste.
The Prime Minister said, sometimes our young children are led astray. They should not be involved in militancy. That is why they need to understand that Islam is a religion of peace. If you kill people, you can never go to heaven, if you kill you will go to hell, people should be made aware of this fact. Mosque imams, scholars, khatibs are seen by the common people with respect, your words are important.
He further said that if you preach sermons about drugs, violence against women, militancy, unnecessary lying and spreading rumours, inhumane treatment of domestic workers, corruption, etc., people will accept it. Especially when the sermon is delivered on Friday, it needs to be well presented.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, I will build a mosque in every upazila and provide an opportunity to propagate Islam. Today we have gathered to inaugurate 50 mosques, we have been able to inaugurate in the month of Ramadan, so I ask everyone to make some dua to Allah Rabbul Alamin, so that we can reach our goal.
The head of government said that Sheikh Mujibur Rahman declared independence on March 26. The Declaration of Independence was adopted on April 17 with the approval of that declaration. The first government was formed today. As Bangabandhu was imprisoned by the Pakistanis, Vice President Syed Nazrul Islam took over as interim president. This government conducted the great war of liberation. With everyone's help we achieved victory on 16th December. I am very happy to inaugurate the mosque today on this holy day and in the holy month of Ramadan.
He also said that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib was very devoted to religion. Soon after the independence of Bangladesh, he established the Islamic Foundation. He made arrangements so that the people of my country could know the message of Islam correctly.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that we have taken measures to spread religion and improve the quality of Islamic education. Madrasa education was looked down upon by many people but education system started firstly through madrasa education in this subcontinent, so we have given importance to it. We have also given importance to religious education in our National Education Policy. Apart from this, the Awami League government also started the mosque-based education program for the first time.
He also said, maintaining communal harmony, he will follow his own religion. Who will go to heaven and who will go to hell will be decided by Allah Rabbul Alamin. We manage the state by trusting in Allah. We believe that everyone has equal rights. We devout Muslims must keep a watchful eye so that our holy religion is not corrupted in any other way.
Sheikh Hasina said, we have reduced the poverty rate. No one will be poor here. We are getting help from Allah because we are working with an honesty. Due to which we have been able to reduce the poverty rate today. It is our goal that every people of Bangladesh get their rights. The father of the nation made this country independent with that goal in mind. We are also working towards that goal.
