The government is strengthening the scout movement

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that the government is taking and implementing various initiatives to strengthen the scout movement.

He said that through the Ministry of Education, we have implemented 'Scouting Expansion and Scout Shatabdi Building Construction Project in Bangladesh' at a cost of Tk 140 crore, 'Scout Building Construction Project in Sylhet Region and Moulvibazar District' at a cost of Tk 482.3 million and 'Regional Scout at a cost of Tk 485.3 million. Training Centre, Lalmai Development Project' is being implemented.

Today (March 16) in a statement given on Wednesday on the occasion of the '51st Annual General Meeting of Bangladesh Scouts', the Prime Minister also said that apart from this, the project 'Expansion of Cub Scouting in Primary Schools (Phase 4)' has been implemented through the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education at a cost of Tk 355.4 million. . 95 acres of forest land has been allocated in favor of 'National Scout Training Centre, Mouchak, Gazipur' for training Cub Scouts. 188 acres of land has been allocated for the purpose of constructing an Adventure Training Center for Rover Scouts in Chittagong.

He said, he has ordered to open two cub scout, scout and rover scout teams in all educational institutions of the country. Along with boys, girl scouts and scout groups should be formed in madrasas.

Congratulating all Rovers, Scouts, Cubs and Scout Leaders on the occasion of the 51st Annual General Meeting of Bangladesh Scouts, the Prime Minister said, Bangladesh Boy Scout Association was formed on April 9, 1972 after independence. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman gave official recognition to Bangladesh Scouts on September 11, 1972 by issuing Presidential Ordinance 111. As a result of his inspiration and initiative, Bangladesh Scouts became the 105th country to become a member of the World Scout Organization on June 1, 1974. As His Excellency the President, he earned the honor of being the first Chief Scout in an independent country.

The Prime Minister said, 'We want to develop our children, teenagers and youth as skilled human resources based on technology knowledge. Bangladesh Scouts are playing a commendable role in this regard. Along with education, Scouts are developing themselves as up-to-date citizens by participating in training and various service activities. I am happy to know that underprivileged children of our society and children with special needs are also getting an opportunity to become self-reliant by participating in scouting activities.

Pointing out that the scout members have made the name of Bangladesh shine in the world through various innovative and philanthropic activities at home and abroad, he said, 'Awami League government has achieved unprecedented progress in every sector of the country in the last 14 years. We have elevated Bangladesh from a least developed country to a developing country. Bangladesh is now a role model in the world for socio-economic development. We will make Bangladesh a smart, developed, happy and prosperous country by 2041, Inshallah.'

The Prime Minister hopes that every member of Bangladesh Scouts will work together to build a hunger-poverty-free, happy and prosperous 'Golden Bangladesh' as dreamed by the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, by fulfilling their duties with utmost patriotism and devotion. He wished the 51st Annual General Meeting of Bangladesh Scouts all round success.
