BPL 2023 Champion Comilla

Comilla Victorians

Comilla Victorians

Comilla Victorians beat Mashrafe's Sylhet to win the BPL title for the fourth time.

This time it was assumed that Sylhet will take home the title by taking Mashrafe's hand. The stalwart Sylhet strikers finally sank into despair. After losing their 7 wickets in the final, Imrul Kayes' Comilla Victorians became BPL champions for the second time in a row.

Liton Das got Comilla Victorians off to a great start as they chased down 175 in the title decider. 'Jivan Pawa' Johnson Charles stormed into the bat late on.

After losing the first three matches of this tournament, the team then went on to win 13 consecutive matches to clinch the title.

The final was the same as the final. Although Sylhet's margin of defeat was large, the match was swinging like a pendulum for a long time. Comilla's target was 176 runs. Up to 16 overs, both teams had equal chances of winning.

Comilla needed 52 runs off the last 24 balls. Captain Mashrafe gave the ball to Rubel Hossain. The match went to Comilla in that over. Johnson Charles and Moeen Ali combined for 23 runs in the over.

In the end, this pair brought out the match. Charles played a match-winning innings of 79 runs off 52 balls with 7 fours and 5 sixes. Moeen Ali remained unbeaten on 25 runs off 17 balls.

In the run chase, Sunil Narine (5 balls 10) and Imrul Kayes (2) were in danger after losing 34 runs. After that, Liton made a pair of 70 runs in 57 balls with Charles. Lytton played an innings of 55 runs off 39 balls, which included 7 fours and a six.

Earlier in this year's BPL, Sylhet scored 175 runs for 7 wickets on the half-centuries of Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Mr. Dependable Mushfiqur Rahim.

Comilla captain Imrul Kayes won the toss and chose to field at Mirpur Shere Bangla Cricket Stadium. Tauhid Hridoy (0) could not take advantage of batting. Mashrafe once again went down to one down. But today, Sylhet Dalpati got out with only 1 in 4 balls.

In the second wicket Shanto and Mushfiq put together a 56-ball 79-run partnership to deal with the danger. Shanta played an innings of 64 runs off 45 balls with 9 fours and 1 six and returned bowled by Moeen Ali.

After that, Ryan Barle scored 13 off 11 balls, Thisara Perera 0 and George Linde returned with 9 runs off 6 balls, and Mushfiq took the lead alone. He remained unbeaten on 74 runs off 48 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes.

Mostafizur Rahman took 2 wickets with 31 runs in 4 overs.
