Enzo Fernandez wants a more advanced role under new Chelsea!

Enzo Fernandez is believed to be mulling over a new role within the Chelsea starting XI next season, according to reports.

The World Cup winner, who joined Enzo Fernandez is believed to be mulling over a new role within the Chelsea starting XI next season, according to reports. the club during the January transfer window for a British record £107million from Benfica, has been most heavily utilised as a defensive midfielder duing time at Stamford Bridge.

Managers Graham Potter, Bruno Saltor, and Frank Lampard have all played the Argentina international in the position, as well as centrally, but as per an interview with his father Raul, Fernandez is interested in changing his style next season.

Incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino will likely have a say in the matter, as he plans a revamp in the position during this summer's window.

But Raul Fernandez shared that the 22-year-old was keen to discuss the adjustment with his Argentine compatriot.

'Enzo is comfortable, happy, and adjusting to London,' Raul said to the Evening Standard.

'He is happy about the arrival of Pochettino. Next season? My son wants to be a champion.

'I think (we will see Enzo play further forward next season). He was going to ask (Pochettino) to play further advanced.'

His desire to move forward could be aided by the proposed arrival of Chelsea's primary midfield target, Brighton's Moises Caicedo, who also plays as a deep-lying midfielder.

The Ecuador international signed a new contract with the Seagulls in March but is widely expected to move on this summer despite the south coast side's Premier League finish at the end of last season, which will see them compete in the Europa League for the first time in the club's history.

Arsenal had long targeted the player but are believed to have dropped out of the race to focus on their £100m bid for West Ham captain Declan Rice - although Chelsea continue to keep an eye on their former academy player too.

The Blues will hope that Fernandez's ambition to win more trophies with their side is aided by a number of changes the team will undergo during the summer window.

As well as welcoming Pochettino will look to trim their overstuffed squad whilst recruiting in pinched areas within the starting XI, as well as reset the players' mindsets after a disappointing season.

Turbulence on and off the pitch contributed to the west London outfit recording their worst league finish in 30 years when they ended the final day of the season in 12th.
