Asia Cup 2023

Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka : Bangladesh opt to bowl

Colombo via Kandy-Lahore. Bangladesh won the toss and invited Sri Lanka to bat in the second match of the Super Four. The Tigers have no choice but to win this match to keep their hope of the Asia Cup final alive. Today (Saturday) the game will start at 3:30 pm Bangladesh time at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

There is one change in Bangladesh XI today. Spinner Nasum Ahmed got a chance in the team in place of middle order batsman Afif Hossain.

After winning the toss, Bangladesh captain Shakib said, 'For us, it must be won. The conditions will be a little different compared to Pakistan so we will have to adapt. We are playing with an extra bowler. Nasum will play in place of Afif.

On the other hand, Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka, who was invited to bat at the beginning after losing the toss, said that if he had won the toss, he would have chosen to bat first. He said, even if he won the toss, he would have decided to bat, even if he lost, there was no loss.

Bangladesh lost by a big margin to injury-plagued Sri Lanka for the first time in this tournament. 164 runs and lost by 5 wickets. Again the Lankans won with 66 balls in hand.

The Bangladesh team was shattered by the bowling of young pacer Pathirana (4/32). After handling the shock of Pallekal's loss, Shakibrah won by 89 runs against Afghanistan in Lahore and reached the Super Four. However, in the first match of the Super Four, Pakistan's pace trio had to lose again by a big margin. And so Shakib Al Hasan will want to win today's match to keep the hope of the final alive.

In this year's Asia Cup, the topic of rain is coming again and again. Sri Lanka is in full monsoon season. Which has had an impact on the matches held on the ground of the country in the past. There is a very good chance of heavy rain in today's match.
