France vs Netherlands : Mbappe`s debut with a double goal

Kylian Mbappe has been given the leadership of France despite having senior star footballers in the team. It also sparked rumors of his feud with Antoine Griezmann. However, world-winning coach Didier Deschamps has faith in the 24-year-old Mbappe. Mbappe repaid that trust in his first match as captain. Along with the pair of scores, he also scored a goal.

On the other hand, the era of coach Donald Koeman has started in Netherlands football. But his journey started with a stumble. Desham-Bahini thrashed Koeman's men 4-0 in the Euro Championship qualifiers.

Griezmann scored with the assist of Mbappe in just 2 minutes of the match. Griezmann's international career ended in disgrace after Mbappe was made captain. Mbappe talked to him about this, but the distance between the two remained. However, no one allowed his influence in the match. A very good understanding between the two emerged in the match.

The French doubled their lead in 10 minutes. This time, Dayat Upmekano got his name on the score sheet. However, Griezmann contributed to this goal after the first goal. His lofted cross deflected into the chest of the Dutch goalkeeper. But unable to control it, the ball goes to Upamecano's feet. Later he found the net. In the 21st minute, the Netherlands fell into a corner after conceding another goal. Mbappe scored the first goal this time. Mbappe successfully netted the ball released by Muanyi after dummying Chuameni's through ball.

The second half also started with France attacking. After trailing by 3 goals, the Netherlands also continued to try to return to the match. In the 58th minute, Memphis Depay took a free-kick with the goalkeeper. From here the Netherlands got a corner but could not use it. On the contrary, France counter-attacked by taking the ball from the corner taken by the Dutch. Didier Deschamps picked up Griezmann in the 77th minute.

A minute later, Mbappe missed an easy chance. The Dutch goalkeeper blocked the French captain's shot with great skill. But he could not be detained for long. The French forward scored a great goal in the 88th minute of the match. With this goal, he became the fifth highest goalscorer for the French national team, surpassing Karim Benzema. He now has 38 goals for France. The Dutch had a chance to reduce the gap in the last minute of the match. In added time, the referee gave the Dutch a penalty if Upamecano had the ball in his hand. But Depay failed to score from the spot-kick.

After a great start to qualifying, France next face Iceland on Monday (March 27). The Netherlands will play against Gibraltar on the same day.
