Bangladesh beat Seychelles 1-0

The Bhutanese referee's match ended. Cheers at Sylhet District Stadium. Bangladesh beat Seychelles 1-0 in FIFA international friendly match. Jamal's victory after 27 months on the soil of the country, so the joy is a little more than the victory against the team behind in the ranking.

The Bangladesh team last won the bilateral series against Nepal in 2020 on the country's soil. Bangladesh won that match 2-0 on November 13. Then another match was drawn against Nepal. In 2021, Bangladesh did not play any match on the country's soil. In March 2022, they drew against Mongolia in Sylhet. A year later, Bangladesh saw victory in Sylhet.

Today's match is also historic for Bangladesh. Nigerian-to-Bangladeshi Elita Kingsley played in this match. Elita has set the example of playing for Bangladesh by giving up the citizenship of another country. He came in as a replacement for Aminur Rahman Sajeeb in the second half of the match. He also got two chances to score.

In the 62nd minute, Matin's extension ball found the goalkeeper almost alone but could not send the ball into the net. The Nigerian-to-Bangladeshi Elita missed the goal but Bangladesh won with the expatriate footballer's goal. Bangladesh took the lead with a goal by Tariq Kazi in the 43rd minute of the first half.

Captain Jamal Bhuiyan's free kick cleared the Seychelles defender and landed in front of Tariq. Tariq heads the ball beautifully into the net. Despite being an amateur team, Seychelles tried to come back in the match again and again. They put Bangladesh under a lot of pressure especially in the second half. Bangladesh goalkeeper Anisur Rahman Zico's determination could not equalize the match for the visiting team.

Even though the Bangladesh team won the match, the mind could not win much. Couldn't play very nice and tidy football even against a relatively weak team. Although Jamal stayed in Saudi Arabia for more than ten days for these two matches. Today's win against Seychelles will take some pressure off coach Javier Cabrera. Because he had only one victory before being the coach of Bangladesh. Cabrera tasted victory for the second time after defeating Cambodia on Cambodian soil. The second match of this series is against Seychelles at Sylhet District Stadium on March 28.
