Gujarat won the opening match of IPL
The two champion teams face each other in the opening match of the season. The fight between the two bests was even. Rituraj Gaikwad's devastating batting led to a big collection for four-time champions Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings. The current champion Hardik Pandya's Gujarat Titans had the last laugh despite a slight loss of rhythm in the run chase.
On Friday (March 31), the sixteenth edition of the IPL opened in a grand ceremony. After Abhijit Singh's song murchhana and rashmikad's charming dance, Dhundhuma's fight begins in Baishoj. In the opening match of the season, Chennai built up a capital of 178 runs based on Rituraj's 50-ball 92-run Mercatori innings. Shubman Gill's innings of 63 runs in the run chase put Gujarat on the way to victory. However, the current champions are in some danger after losing consecutive wickets. But in the end, Hardik's Gujarat Titans won by five wickets with 4 balls to spare thanks to Rashid Khan's 3-ball 10-run cameo innings.
Gujarat did not get off to a bad start with a target of 179 runs. However, in the fourth over of the innings, Wriddhiman Saha was caught by Shivam Dube on the boundary line off Rajavardhan Hangargekar. Shivam took a great catch. Riddhi left the field with 25 runs off 16 balls with the help of 2 fours and 2 sixes. Gujarat lost 1 wicket for 37 runs. Then Sai Sudarshan entered the field as an impact player in place of the injured Kane Williamson. But could not settle after a good start
Handsome too. Rajavardhan was caught in Dhoni's glove as the second victim of Hangargekor. He scored 22 runs off 17 balls. Hit 3 fours.
Skipper Hardik Pandya did not have a good day with the bat. Pandya left the field after being bowled by Ravindra Jadeja. He scored 8 runs off 11 balls. Gujarat lost 3 wickets for 111 runs. Gujarat lost wickets at regular intervals. But Shubman Gill was keeping one end. He was also caught taking the team closer to victory.
Shubman Gill was caught by Ruturaj Gaikwad off Tushar Deshpande who replaced Ambati Rayudu as the first impact player in IPAC history. Gill scored 63 runs off 36 balls. Hit 6 fours and 3 sixes. Gujarat is in danger with Gill's departure. Vijay Shankarao disappointed. But at the end, Rashid Khan combined all the equations. He picked up two wickets with the ball. He paved the way for the team's victory by scoring 10 runs in 3 balls at an effective moment with the bat.
Chennai Super Kings did not get off to a good start after losing the toss. Devon Conway, the big batting star of the super flop team, came down to play the first match of the season. Mohammad Shami sent the Kiwi opener back to the cage with a dream-like delivery on the second ball of the third over of the innings. The pacer also reached a milestone by bowling Conway in an inswinging yorker for 6 runs. Shami has reached a century of wickets in his IPL career.
After that, Moeen Ali batted brilliantly today. This English all-rounder was fluent from the beginning when he came to the wicket. But he could not increase the innings even after settling on the wicket. He was caught by Sai Kishore in the fifth ball of the last over of the power play when he bowled Rashid Khan. He added 23 runs to his name after playing 17 balls before returning to the dressing room.
Ben Stokes could not take advantage of this day. This all-rounder, one of the most expensive of the season, could not score more than 7 runs in one boundary after playing 6 balls. Ambati Rayudu also walked the same path. This experienced batsman hit a big six and ended the good start at 12 runs.
Even though the team lost wickets at regular intervals, Ruturaj Gaikwad kept one edge and batted today. This opener side was aggressive from the start. Haf touched the century off 23 balls. Then batted at the same pace. But stuck in the nervous nine. In the first ball of the 18th over, Shubman Gill was caught by Alzari Joseph's yorker over long-on. The opener, who batted brilliantly, returned to the dressing room regretting not getting a century. 92 runs from 50 balls came from his bat.
After that, Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dubey also quickly returned to the dressing room. As a result, the speed of the run also decreases a little. In the end, Chennai scored 178 runs thanks to Dhoni's 14-run innings.
