Bangladeshi players whose IPL career ended in 1 match
The popular franchise tournament in cricket is the Indian Premier League (IPL). World's biggest star cricketers are looking forward to play in this tournament full of money and excitement. Currently, Bangladesh's regular face in that event is the world's best all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and pacer Mustafizur Rahman. Both have been representing the Tigers in the IPL for 8-9 years. But many more Bangladeshi cricketers were called for the tournament. Their experience was not pleasant. IPL career ended in just one match.
In 2008, spinner Abdur Razzak became the first Bangladeshi to be invited to this Indian tournament. At that time Royal Challengers Bangalore bought him for 50 thousand dollars. He gave 29 runs in 2 overs in just 1 match career. Was wicketless. As a result, he was not given a chance in Bengaluru's XI.
In the next (2009) season, two Bangladeshi cricketers got a team in IPL. Kolkata Knight Riders Mashrafe Bin Mortuza and Mumbai Indians took Mohammad Ashraful that year. Both played for the team only once. Ashraful bought for 75 thousand dollars scored only 2 runs in the only match. He played 10 balls to score this run. After that, he did not have a place in the team.
On the other hand, Mashrafe responded well at the then price. He was recruited to the Calcutta team for 6 million US dollars. Which is the highest price among Bangladeshi cricketers playing in IPL till now. But his performance was quite disappointing for that price. He gave 58 runs in 4 overs. Mashrafe did not get a place in Kolkata's eleven after losing that match.
However, Tamim Iqbal did not win a single match. He was taken by Pune Warriors for 50 thousand dollars in both seasons of 2012-13. But for once he was not given a chance in the XI. He had to accompany the team back home from the side-bench.
Shakib Al Hasan is quite an exception in this case. He had a chance to play in a total of nine IPL matches. Shakib's team was Kolkata for seven consecutive seasons from 2011. Then in 2018, he went to Hyderabad and spent two seasons. However, he returned to his old address in Kolkata. Shakib scored 793 runs at 124 strike rate in 71 matches. However, this Bangladeshi star cricketer is more brilliant with the ball than with the bat. He took 63 wickets at an average of 29.19. His best bowling figures are 3 for 17 runs.
Mustafiz made his IPL debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016. It was his service that made Hyderabad the champion. At the same time, Mustafiz won the 'Best Emerging' award with 16 wickets in 17 matches. Mustafiz joined Mumbai after playing two seasons. After that he was recruited by Delhi Capitals via Rajasthan. He has taken 46 wickets in 46 matches of IPL so far. However, this is the first time that three Bangladeshis have teamed together for the first time in an Indian tournament. Liton Das has been called up to Shakib's team for the first time.
