Happy Birthday to the Prince of Trinidad

History never tells itself, it takes a lot of hard work to make it. All those who have been a part of history in this world have had to pass through harsh realities and ordeals. An unstoppable attitude and a never-to-be-lost mentality make people reach the pinnacle of success one day. World cricket has also produced examples that will forever be recorded as guiding principles for others.

Initially, it was for leisure, but over time, playing cricket has become a popular sport among people. Even in modern times cricket has become an essential part of human life. But those who started it are basically the lifeblood of cricket.

Brian Charles Lara is one of the few cricketers who have received the title of legend in the history of cricket. Sometimes he got the title of 'The Prince of Port-of-Spain', sometimes 'The Prince of Trinidad', 'The Prince', and sometimes 'The Godfather of World Cricket' due to his brilliance in batting at twenty-two yards. There have never been so many similes next to the name. Lara's outstanding contribution to Caribbean cricket is undeniable.

Brian Charles Lara was born on this day (May 2) in the small province of Santa Cruz, Trinidad and Tobago in 1969. Ashraful Islam Akash writes for the readers of Daily Bangladesh about the career and achievements of the undisputed legend of world cricket on his 54th birthday.

Brian Lara's cricket career did not have an easy start. He was the tenth in a family of eleven brothers and sisters. After that, he grew up in the tension of the family. But at the age when he was supposed to step into the school hall with a bag on his shoulder, everyone's favorite 'Prince' got admitted to cricket coaching.

Lara appeared at the local Harvard coaching clinic with her father and elder sister at the age of six. Later, however, Lara started attending St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Primary School. The rising Lara was then admitted to San Juan Secondary School.

However, the story of Lara becoming a hero in professional cricket started from the ground of Fatima College in Port of Spain. Originally, he scored 724 runs at an average of 126.16 in the inter-school competition at the age of fourteen under coach Harry Ramdas. After that he got a call to Trinidad's under-16 team. The following year, he got a chance to play in the Caribbean under-19 team. After that, the left-handed batsman didn't have to look back.

Lara scored 498 runs in the Windies Youth Championship in 1987. Through which he broke Carl Hooper's record of 480 runs. He made his first-class cricket debut for Trinidad and Tobago in 1988 by batting brilliantly in this tournament. The opponent of the service was the Leeward Islands.

In first-class cricket, Lara did not perform well in the debut match, but in the second match, Lara came into her own. He played a marathon innings of 92 runs from the crease for 300 minutes against Barbados. He hit one boundary after the other devastating bowlers Malcolm Marshall and Joel Garner.

In the same year, Lara fell 18 runs short of a double century against the India U-23 team. He played a brilliant innings of 182 runs before returning to Sajghar. Windies were called up to the national team for the first time after a series of performances.

At that time, Lara was very broken mentally due to the death of her father due to heart attack. That is why he was away from cricket for quite some time. However, this cricketer returned to the field of cricket with the love of twenty two yards.

In 1990, at the age of 20, Lara made his debut against Pakistan at the Karachi National Stadium. However, he could not make the debut. Pakistan's pace sensation Walker was dismissed for just 11 runs by Younis.

A month after making his debut for the West Indies national team, Brian Lara began his much-anticipated journey in Test cricket against the same opposition at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The next story is just about The Prince.

44 and 5. Lara started her white dress career with these two numbers. And the batsman took three years to reach the magic figure of three in Tests.

In January 1993, the Windies faced Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground. This series may go down as one of the greatest events in cricket history. Because the Caribbean lost this test series of five matches. Team Windies even won the trophy by winning the last Test.

The first match of the five-match Test series was a draw, but hosts Australia won the second by 139 runs. In the next match, Ajira scored 503 runs in the first innings by batting first. Batting in response, the Caribbean lost two wickets in the beginning.

Lara came to the crease with the bat at number four in this match. The batsman played an epic innings of 277 runs as a savior just when the team's condition was at a standstill. That Test was also drawn mainly based on his innings.

Lara became more explosive the year after the Sydney Test. The Prince broke the 26-year-old record of Sir Garfield Sobers by playing an innings of 375 runs against England in 1994.

Lara was a tall race horse, he had told at the beginning of his career. In the jersey of the national team, he started to take possession of new records in one innings after another. In that sequence, he played a superhuman innings of 501 runs against Durham in 1994 for the English county team Worcestershire at Edgbaston. Which is still the highest individual innings by a batsman in first-class cricket.
