Recovering Shakib takes a step forward
Bangladesh Test and T20I skipper, Shakib Al Hasan, who is recovering from a finger injury, has started bowling with short run-up at the outer nets of the Sher-e-Bangla National stadium indoor premises in Mirpur on Thursday.
The star all-rounder has been working on his fitness in the past few days and was seen working with the Tigers spin coach Rangana Herath. Although Shakib had fractured his non-bowling index finger, however, as part of his rehabilitation process the star cricketer bowled at a short run-up today.
The star cricketer is recovering quickly and the team management is hopeful that Shakib would be able to return for the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan next month.
"I have seen his X-Ray and it looked fine. We are hopeful that he will be able to take part in the upcoming ODI series," BCB's chief physician Dr Debashish Chowdhury told the media today. The 36-year-old injured his finger during the second match of the three-match ODI series against Ireland in Chelmsford last month and was eventually ruled out for the ongoing lone Test against Afghanistan.
