Asia Cup : India won by 10 wickets
The length of the game was reduced to 23 overs due to rain. The target for India is 145 runs. With the devastating batting of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill in the opening pair, they crushed Nepal with 17 balls in hand. Rohit Sharma's team confirmed the Asia Cup Super Four by winning by 10 wickets on DLS method. On the other hand, Nepal has to return home empty-handed after coming to the Asian stage for the first time. Earlier, they lost to Pakistan by a huge margin of 238 runs in the first match.
The weather forecast said that there is a possibility of rain in Kandy today, there is also the possibility of the match being washed away. However, despite the rain, the match was not played. India won the toss and chose to bowl at Pallekele Stadium today. They all out Nepal for 230 runs. If the Indian fielders had not fielded a little recklessly in the beginning, the number of runs would have decreased even more. They dropped three catches each in five overs of the match. Shreyas Iyer caught the last ball of the first over bowled by Indian pacer Mohammad Shamir. Nepal opener Kushal Bhurtel batted the ball outside the offstump. Caught at first slip. Shreyas raised his right hand but could not palm the ball.
Same scene with the first ball of the second over bowled by Mohammad Siraj. Virat Kohli, one of the best fielders of the Indian team, missed the catch this time. Another Nepali opener Asif Sheikh played a cover shot off Siraj. Kohli's hand at short cover touches the ball but misses.
Ishan Kishan took the third catch. The second ball of the fifth over by Shamir was just outside the legside. The ball hit the bat of Vurtel and went to the wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan. But the ball went under his armpit and became four. Bhurtel later scored 38 runs. 65 runs came in the pair of him and Asif. Bhurtel was dismissed by Shardul Thakur.
After that, however, Nepal's innings lost its way. They lost 4 wickets in the team's 101 runs. Among them, except Bhurtel, the remaining 3 could not even cross two digits. Indian left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja dismissed all 3 people. Asif Sheikh, sitting on the wicket, however, picked up a fifty. But he could not increase the innings. Asif returned with a catch in the hands of Kohli after scoring 58 runs off 97 balls by Indian pacer Mohammad Siraj.
Nepal was in danger of being bowled out in 200 by the controlled bowling of the Indian bowlers. However, Gulshan Jha (23), Dipendra Singh (29) and finally Sampal Kami's innings of 48 runs from 56 balls were able to collect enough capital. However, Nepal could not play full 50 overs, stopping at 48.2 overs. Although it rained sometimes. The game was stopped for a long time. But not cut over.
India's Siraj and Jadeja took 3 wickets each while Shami, Hardik Pandya and Shardul took 1 wicket each. In response, after 2.1 overs, India saw rain. Due to which the game was stopped for almost two hours. At one time it seemed that India would share the points against Nepal like Pakistan. But with the great efforts of the field workers, the game started again. However, the number of overs is reduced. The two Indian openers simply beat the Nepali bowlers when they came to play with the new target. Rohit remained unbeaten on 74 off 59 balls with 6 fours and 5 sixes. Gill, another opener, was unbeaten on 67 off 62 balls with 8 fours and 1 six.
