Shoriful gives Bangladesh the breakthrough
The first match of the Super Four phase of the Asia Cup took place today. Bangladesh played against Pakistan at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
After winning the toss and batting first, the top order collapsed. Later, Shakib Al Hasan-Mushfiqur Rahim's pair turned around, but due to the failure of the lower order, Bangladesh finally collapsed to 193 runs. Later, the two Pakistani openers started cautiously chasing the target. But in the last over of the power play by Shariful, Fakhar Zaman returned to the trap of leg before the wicket.
The two Pakistani openers Fakhar Zaman and Imam ul Haq started well when they came down to bat against the target of 194 runs given by Bangladesh. Tiger handled the pacers very cautiously. As a result, the duo was growing up slowly. However, this opening pair was broken in the tenth over by Shariful.
Shariful's first ball in the tenth over hit Fakhar's leg. The umpire did not hesitate to point the finger after the Tigers' strong appeal. As a result, Fakhar had to return with 20 runs off 31 balls.
As of writing this report, Pakistan's total is 44 runs with the loss of 1 wicket in 11 overs.
