Bayern Munich lost 2-1

A few days ago, Bayern Munich fired coach Julian Nagelsmann without any prior announcement. The German giants then hired another hotly debated coach, Thomach Tuchel. Tukhel's Bayern chapter was also good. But after one match, the club suffered a big blow. Freiburg were knocked out of the league after losing 2-1 in the quarter-finals of the German Cup.

Tukhel's side advance to the quarter-finals at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday (April 4) night. Although the first half was even, the second half brought disaster for the supreme title holders. Bayern are the 20-time champions in the country's second-best competition.

Bayern got the first lead of the match that day. They took the lead in the 19th minute with a header from French defender Dayed Upemekano. Then the German giants had to deal with the storm. Desperate to repay the goal, Freiburg succeeded in just eight minutes of effort. German midfielder Nicolas Heffler equalized with a bullet-speed shot from 20 meters away.

Not only the first half, but the entire match was going to end with that tie. Freiburg got a chance after a mistake by Bayern heading into extra time. In the third minute of added time of the match, Jamal Musiala got the ball in the D-box and the referee blew the whistle for a penalty. From there, German forward Lucas Hula sent off the favorites with a successful spot kick.

Earlier, Thomas Müller, Eric-Maxim Chupo Motting and Leroy Sannera were desperate to break the wall of equality. But in the end, the opponent has the last laugh. Which has brought the disappointment of farewell to Tukhel's new starting team.

Tukhel was on the other side of the coin just three days ago. Bayern regained top spot in the Bundesliga after beating Borussia Dortmund on his debut for Bayern last Saturday. Bayern will face Freiburg again in the league next Saturday. Three days later, they will face Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
