Liverpool gave advantage to City by stopping Arsenal

Liverpool did not have much power from this match. They have ended their hopes of playing in the Champions League next season after finishing in the top four of the English Premier League points table. All that was left to get Jurgen Klopp's men at Anfield was to keep their decade-long unbeaten run against Arsenal intact. Today, Liverpool managed to do that very well. They were able to do their job properly by drawing 2-2 after falling behind by 2 goals with Arsenal.

Arsenal went into the field with many goals. It was the elusive win at Anfield after the 2012-13 season. The team, which is at the top of the league points table with 72 points, could have extended their lead with a win today. But that didn't happen. By drawing with Liverpool, the Gunners have given the opportunity to approach Manchester City, which is in second place with 67 points.

Manchester City beat Southampton 4-1 on Saturday. Now the difference between the top two teams is only 6 points. However, if Arsenal won today's match, this difference would have been 8. The worry for Arsenal now is that City have one less game to play and one more game against City left this season. All but the logistics of Arsenal's dream of winning the English Premier League since 2004 remain in the hands of Pep Guardiola's team.

Arsenal started the match with complete dominance. After 8 minutes, Gabriel Martinelli scored to give Arsenal a 1-0 lead. Martin Odegaard extended the pass to Bukayo Saka. Liverpool defender Virgil von Dijk blocked, but the ball went to Martinelli's feet at his feet. The Brazilian footballer made no mistake in fooling goalkeeper Alisson Becker. Arsenal could have gone further after 16 minutes. But Gabriel Jesus couldn't capitalize on that opportunity from Sakka's pass. Liverpool's chance came after a while. But Fabinho squandered the chance when he crossed the ball to Andy Robertson in a fairly empty Arsenal box. However, in the 42nd minute, Mohammad Salah scored a goal to seal the match (2-1).

Arsenal went into the break leading the match 2-1. However, just before the break Martinelli made a fool of Trent Alexander-Arnold and sent a cross into the box, then his teammate Brazilian Jesus scored a header.

A controversial incident during the break of the match spread heat in Anfield. Liverpool's Scottish footballer Andy Robertson claims he was elbowed by a linesman in the match. The Premier League authorities said they would investigate the allegation.

After the break, Liverpool started the game with Jordan Henderson's miss. But the real drama of the match begins in this half. Liverpool were awarded a penalty when Diego Jota was brought down by Arsenal defender Rob Holding in the box. But the Egyptian star of Liverpool hit the penalty outside. Liverpool then launched one attack after another, coming very close to goal but failing. Arsenal goalkeeper Ramsdell brilliantly blocked Salah's shot. After 9 minutes, he saved a shot from Nunez.

In the end, the savior of Liverpool became the outgoing star Roberto Firmino. In the 87th minute of the match, the Brazilian star made Anfield happy by scoring a header from Trent Alexander Arnold's cross. Even after 2-2, the opportunity came to Liverpool. Another shot by Salah was saved by Ramsdale just before entering the goal.

However, even if they draw in this match, Liverpool will still regret it. Liverpool have not won a single league match since beating Manchester United 7-0 last month. The top four is a long way off for them at the moment. Liverpool are still 12 points behind fourth-placed Tottenham in the Premier League.
