Real Madrid is the ruling team : Joan Laporta
Almost two months after the allegations were made, Barcelona president Juan Laporta called a press conference today to talk about it. The charge is serious. If you do not know, it is better to inform again. Spanish lawyers have filed charges against Barca for paying referees. It is alleged that this money was given for corruption.
There is an uproar in Spanish football about it and Real Madrid expressed its position about it last month. The club's statement claimed that Real would also be "damaged" in the incident and called for legal action. Laporta gave the answer to the words of the arch-rival club today. And while responding, the Barca president hit Real as "the team of the powerful".
LaPorta went back and forth during the nearly 35-minute press conference. Barca has never committed such corruption to gain an advantage on the field of play. Referees are not paid to obtain an unethical advantage. While talking about these issues, Laporta also expressed his anger on UEFA and La Liga. He didn't leave Real either. Said in the press conference, "I want to talk about a club. That club is Real Madrid. This club has historically always been privileged and it was the club of the ruling class.
Laporta then said, 'I want to remind you that most of those who have appointed referees for 70 years were either directors, members or players of Real Madrid. Real Madrid have presented themselves in this case as being victims of corruption in sports. It is actually the highest manifestation of the wretchedness of thought. And that too after the best season in Barca history.
Laporta clearly said, 'We all know that Real Madrid has historically been at an advantage. Presenting ourselves as a victim is actually nothing but the cruelty of thinking. Barca president said that although the relationship with Real has not been broken, "The relationship with Real has been damaged (not broken), of course it has happened with many other clubs."
The incident can be repeated for the benefit of those who have not yet heard the accusation against Barca of paying the referee. Spanish lawyers accused Barcelona of paying 7.3 million euros (about 847.7 million 96 thousand taka in Bangladeshi currency) to referees from 2001 to 2018.
The referee is Jose Maria Enrique Negreira, former vice-president of the Spanish Referencing Committee. Barca gave more than 84 crore rupees to his organization in those 19 years. Spanish lawyers have filed a case against Barca accusing them of corruption in sports and falsification of business documents. UEFA is also investigating the allegations.
However, Barca has always denied this accusation and claimed that this money was not given to corrupt the referee. The Catalan club claimed the money was paid for strategic advice on players and refereeing.
